OC, CS and CN — what they are, how they differ, and what they actually do to the human body.

Deployment
Distance, spray patterns, wind, confined spaces, and the risk of contaminating yourself and bystanders.

Decontamination & Aftercare
Your duty of care after deployment. Flushing, monitoring, and when to call medical aid — this is where officers get sued.

Reporting
Documenting a deployment properly, because the report is what defends you months later.
Before You Enroll
Requirements

Active Guard Card
Recommended. Most employers require an active BSIS registration before you carry OC on duty.

Valid Photo ID
California driver license or state ID.
03
18 or Older
Minimum age for BSIS chemical-agent certification.
